In the face of a weak dollar, mass layoffs, and the world's corporate giants floundering, what are the corporate sustainability efforts we can realistically expect from businesses in 2009?
There are three big trends to watch out for: sustainability labels, virtual meetings, and zero waste.
1. sustainability labels:
1) carbon footprint (http://www.carbonfootprint.com/carbonfootprint.html)
2) a whole sustainability index measuring recycled content
3) food miles traveled
2. virtual meetings
The future consists of webinars instead of seminars.
3. zero waste
try to reduce the packaging, the weight, the transportation the size.
food miles traveled
(http://www.ceres.org.au/projects/CERES_Report_%20Food_Miles_in_Australia_March08.pdf) 'food miles' is a term now commonly used to measure the transport travelled by food products between production and consumption. Food miles is one part of a larger full life-cycle assessment required to compare the sustainability of individual items in food systems.
carbon footprint means carbon reduction label. The carbon footprint is a measurement of all greenhouse gases we individually produce and has units of tonnes (or kg) of carbon dioxide equivalent.

my ideas :) In this part like a sustainability design, it will be important from now also in the future. Designers have to try to think how to communicate well with visual communication design; logo in sustainability.
