green nypd

http://www.core77.com/
This article is about the New York Police Department's new Nissan Altima Hybrid Patrol Cars. I think changing from the conventional lmpala to Altima hybrids Patrol Cars is very beneficial.
Even though the Altima hybrids cost is more expensive than the conventional lmpala. In the long run it can be effective change not only keeping green environment but also saving money.

CEOs Hiring 27-Year Old Mentors

http://www.businessweek.com/innovate/nussbaumondesign/

According to businessweek, CEOs are hiring 27-year old mentors to help them navigate social media. Based of their future earnings, spending potential, and their ability to power the future economy, experts analyze Generation Yers’ opinions about everything from laundry preferences to personal priorities. Even now companies are paid to get advice from trends that emerge from Y Gen. I am including Y Gen because their interesting CEOs are focusing on Y Gen's social media. I think the reason why CEOs are interested in the Y Gen is because they are have a big bull's eye to the market.

Guy #3

This youtube video is so funny. I found this video from sethgodin's blog. First when I watched this movie, I thought just crazy guy was dancing. But, after a few minutes, a lot of people join into dancing group. It's really surprising! According to a writer, initiators are rare indeed, but it's scary to be the leader. I think trend leaders are related to this weird guy. This is about how to bring strangers together to make connections in public spaces.

A growing hunger to profit from the global market for smart phones

This article from Economist describes about Smart phone.
I have a plan to buy Smart phone. I think smart phone make people organize and well-communicate. This article announced that Smart phone is getting cheaper and faster because smart phone market is getting competitive. This news is good for me! Apple is trying to create new apps to attract customers. New Pre from Palm is very attractive to me. The shape is very simple and comfortable. Also, convenient apps will make me organized and easy connective person.

1hour design challenge winners! Business Card Hacks!

"Mini Brush and Dust Pan" designed by starz
I found this work from core77. People are usually using business card to appear their name and position. But, from the other point of view business cards can be wasted things because it is just paper with some one's information. How to use it effectively? 1 hour design competition tried to come up with solutions. There are some cleaver solutions. One of ideas is making brush and pan by using business card.

Virgin Union Square To Shut Down

http://www.thetripwire.com/news/2009/02/27/virgin-union-square-to-shut-down/

This weekend when I passed by Union square st, I found "Virgin"store is going to close and selling their products; cd, dvd and clothes with 50% discounted price. I think this situation show change of period. We don't prefer to buy CD any more for listening to the music  because we can easily download from website like itunes. Most people prefer to use mp3.

Materials recycling:Turning old carpet into new

The Ample Sample design competition is for using material scraps that would otherwise go in the garbage. Ample Sample is again challenging designers to rethink and repurpose carpet samples after their usefulness to a design project, to make a design product. I think this competition will contribute to the green environment and designer's creative thinking

Is marketing an art or a science?

http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2009/05/is-marketing-an-art-or-a-science.html

What is marketing?

"marketing" is the promotion of products, especially advertising and branding. According to the article, there are two different approaches ; scientistic, artistic in terms of marketing. But, it is hard to apply to marketing successfully because we can choose only one approach. This means marketing can be an art or a science. As a view of designer, artistic perception attract customers, but it might just fancy things. Sometimes, marketing need scientific approaches, but without design it is not available to attract customers' eyes. I think design is a part of business. To attract customers designers should think scientific and artistic part of marketing.

I choose South street in Phily as an unique place.
For teenagers, South Street is a good place. More t shirt, CD shops, places to get piercings and fast food joints than you can shake a stick at!

burger site

http://www.carlsjr.com

This website is for Carl's JR burger. I like this web site because this is very attractive for customers. As soon as I enter this website, I feel like entering real someone's room. There are big TV screen at the center of room. Through TV screen you can see different kinds of TV advertisement. The interesting thing is if you click a telephone on the table, you can choose your roommate and listen your roommate's message. I think website background as room make people familiar with burgers.

inspired design

My concept is rails. How to make well to represent shape of rails?
I found some interesting typography. Even though this work is bending several pens,
I inspired connected lines to make shape of rails, and it looks like rails.
